You are lost is a instillation art work designed by Heather and Ivan Morison that I work on in 2011. The original brief of the piece was to build a set of 20 foot high letters alongside the N34 motorway outside of Assen in the Netherlands. These letters spelling out the words YOU ARE LOST would be triggered to pulse 3 times when a car drove passed.
YOU ARE LOST is a reference to three types of scenario, you are lost in a physical geographical sense, you are lost in a spiritual sense, you are lost in an apocalyptic sense.
The N34 project did not go ahead, but the Kinsale Festival in Ireland commissioned the piece; this time the letters were made out of solid Oak. On a night of the Kinsale Festival the letters were stacked with crates and Ivan set fire to them.
