Story Culture is an esteemed and successful film company that specialise in using the moving image to tell peoples, companies and organisations stories. Based in the heart of the creative London Borough of Hackney, Story Culture wanted their office interior to reflect their own creative flare.
I was commissioned to design, project manage and run my team of builders and electricians refitting and installing the updated office scheme. Part of my concept was to design a custom light fitting that used the language of Story Cultures logo. This light fitting was built by Millennium Models to my specifications out of a laser cut 9mm MDF carcass, 6mm flexy birch ply was wrapped around the frame and 25 meters of warm white LED were fitted to the rear facing plate of the structure. 6mm Opal Perspex was used to create the glowing faces and defuse the light from the LED’s. A Rhinoceros drawing was used to work out exactly the correct position of the ceiling fixings and chain lengths in order to ensure that the lights hung in the right way to make the logo and ensure that each light box was level.
The Story Culture office refit was a project about making the three dimensional reality of the Company fit with is dynamic creative work. Films and documentary of outstanding quality are produce by Story Culture, yet their studio in Hackney did not reflect the boldness of their creations.
